This morning at 9 am, give or take 20 min. (mostly take) I came into the office grabbed a cup of coffee and went over to talk to a co-worker. I noticed he was looking at the new issue of Super Street. He asked me to check out this ad forForza2, a race car video game. There is a picture of a Nissan 350z on the ad and it reads "There's only one thing the game doesn't give you." He said here sniff it, curiously I did. I pulled back the tab, shoved my nose in between the paper and inhaled with all my might. Rushing in to my nostrils came a strong, extremely potent scent of burnt rubber. My eyes started to tear and I think I threw up a little bit in my mouth. And that's not to say I don't enjoy the smell of some fatties lighting it up in a blaze of glory creating a cloud of smoke you could cut through with a knife but this was just overwhelming. It is now 6:26 PM and I still can not get the smell of burnt rubber out of my nose. I don't know what this ad was trying to do but it sure doesn't make me want to buy the video game. I understand perfumes where the scent directly relates to the product they are advertising, but why a video game?
